Octane clarification pleasee
Hey dudes
My mother and I got into a conversation about octane ratings and what you should use after heavy disagreement, I researched it to find out that a few articles state that if your car requires premium, it's ok to use regular but it will be slower. Whereas, if your car needs regular and you use premium, it will damage in time Can someone clarify all this? Preferably with stats or fact? |

Premium in a car designed for regular is a total waste of money, but it won't damage anything.
Regular in a car designed for premium may or may not cause damage. If the engine doesn't make unusual noise with regular it should be OK. But when a premium car tolerates regular, it does it by the computer retarding the timing and lowering the performance of the car. This will probably also reduce the mileage to the point where it costs less per mile to use premium in the first place. |
