Default oem foglight question

the oem foglights come standard with h3, 55 watts right? i am wondering if there are higher wattages available for this setup (for better strength) and if so, wouldn't this cause the housing, lens and reflector to perhaps get too hot that they might warp or worse, melt?

i understand that the lens cover is glass but the insides are plastic perhaps?

hoping to change mine to get better illumination especially in dark places. what are the higher wattages available?

You can go a little bit higher, but if you go too high, the housing will be fine but the wiring for the fogs will melt

Go with some PIAA brand. I'm currently running Xtreme White 85W but the light output it's 135W. PIAA makes high quality bulbs

this piaa is still halogen right? i have hids in my headlights already and i want to retain the halogen color so in case of heavy rain and fog, i can still see ahead.

You have HID's and you can't see in rain or fog better than halogen headlights would? What color are they? 8000K?

yes they are 8000k. actually i can see quite well. i tested it in heavy rain and its alright. haven't tried it in fog though. at least with the halogen fogs, i have the flexibility just in case.

my other intent for this is that my hids (bixenon h4) are good at low beam, but when i switch to high beam, it just focuses the light in front but doesn't get far. if i adjust the vertical alignment, it will blind other drivers already. i noticed that my fogs can give me range but its just to weak over the hids. with a higher rating, i think it can do the job that my hid can't at hi beam.
