Default Oil change??

I put Mobil One full synthetic oil with a K&N oil filterinto my car a few months ago. I pushed the red/yellow/green marker in with my key to give me an idea when to change again right.

I hear that it can go 5-7000 miles with the syn oilwith K&N filter (or other good quality filter). And the marker on the dash turns red when it gets to 3000..... or 5000 miles??? I forget...

Well I checked my oil and it's pretty dark and black. But the marker is still green, I've prolly only gone a couple thousand. Is it alright if it's black like that and run it?

I'm kind of confused....

IMO I don't care what oil you use. You should change it at 3000. It is not that expensive to do, and it will do nothing but good. Hell I was changing mine at 2000 for awhile when I was driving like a lunatic all the time. LOL

I ran into that on another car. Is this the first time you've used synthetic? Mine did it with royal purple. this what I found in relation to that type. Thepurple does some sort of micro-shine of the inside of the engine cleaning out all the regular oil deposits out and making it run more efficiently. This will also reveal any leaking spots that old oil has clogged up into. This may be it but I change oil every 3000 km or so despite what the manuals say. I'd rather spend a couple of 10's every other month to get the oil changed than a couple of 100's to fix a oil starvation problem. Grab some of those magnetic plugs as well. THEY WORK. A very good $40 investment to keep your engine safe.

I ran my other car about 6k on a 7.5k filter and Mobil 1 synthetic oil. My car also had a factory engine problem that basicly blew your engine after so long due to oil sludge.

Most people reported their engine seized around 60k miles. My factory dammaged engine made it to 125k miles, I guarentee the only reason it made it that far was because of the synthetic oil, and regular changes.

It was a dodge, I am in a class action to get some of the 3k I spent trying to fix the pile of ****, but it won't be settled for 25 years, and even then i won't get but 50 bucks back.

Moral: Synthetic saves.

It is the first time I used full synthetic... befor I used valvoline high maileage I believe, which was a mix.

That sucks stumasters, another reason why imports are more durable than american cars [8D].

Not to say I don't like american cars, I love muscle cars. I also think chevy and ford are starting to get there act together with the newer models. But have to wait and see....
