RE: OIL change intervals
my 99 civic gets its oil changed every 2500 miles or 3000 at the latest, im not sure what to tell you about on the newer models, but i drive mine hard ever day of the week and even at 3000 miles the oil still looks good its just i change it anyways, its like those people who wash their hands 30 times a day.

RE: OIL change intervals
I have a new 04 Civic LX and the dealer told me that the factory oil has additives and that they don't want you to change the oil for the first 5,000 miles. I think that it allows the engine to be broken in properly.

RE: OIL change intervals
Im at 3500 and the oil still looks new on the dipstick. For some reason I can't seem to make myelf let it get over 4K. I actually start feeling guilty at 3K, this is most likely because an old S10 I had had the worst burnt looking oil after 2K.
A guy I know has 280K on his stock del sol and swears on 5K oil changes. The engine does not sound the best, but it's still all original.

RE: OIL change intervals
yea I am too, thats why at 3000 miles I wanted to change the oil, so i went out to buy oil and a filter and then thought I should call the dealer and he said not till 5000, so after that I will start doin it every 3k.
