Can i change my oil filter while there is oil in the engine. I just changed it but didnt have enough time to get the filter on. So can i just wait and change it?

RE: Oil Filter
Yes, you can change your oil filter when there is oil still in the car. There will be a little oil that comes out when you change it but not much. If the car is running when you change it then lots of oil will come out do to the oil being pressurized. Just make sure the old oil filter gasket comes off, and you put some oil on the new oil filter to form a good seel.

RE: Oil Filter
Just do it in the morning when it's cold. The oil will be more viscous and will have settled to the oil pan, so you shouldn't have any come out (provided you're on a level surface). And yes, make sure you oil up the new gasket so it doesn't burn itself to your block.
