opinions on short shifters

in the next weekend or 2 im gonna change my shifter bushings and while i was there was thinking about putting in a short shifter. my question is, do you guys think thats something i can cheap out on and get one off ebay? i know you get what you pay for, i was just wondering peoples experiences on them.

thanks!

Generally, the eBay shifters are fine, but I have heard plenty of stories of the shifters breaking mid-throw. Obviously it's pretty much going to be a "luck of the draw" deal, but I'd say go for it and just try not to be too rough with it.

Hardly....

I have a $13 ebay short shifter and although it was a lot cheaper than a TWM...who the F cares if you have a cool knob and shift boot. whose really gonna say..wow that's a cool shifter..the only one who will know is you..besides the performance increase is quite significant..what a great bang for only $13 bucks...you wlll love it!! I use to have a TWM in my scion..but they cost $150.00 and it's a only a bent metal rod..cmon...How hard is it to make a short shifter...you be the judge...$13 vs $150 same performance!

abtw...do buy the energy suspension bushings..that is a must!!!

This. Exactly.

I never wanted to take the chance, so I opted for a shifter which was made of steel.
