Okay, I have decided not to go crazy with the motor (no turbo) so here is my situation. trans is shifting like s**t 1-2, 2-3 and some times off the line it has motor hop. I work for a mechanic shop (im not a mechanic long long story) so i have the resources and manpower/knowledge available.

so my question is should I rebuild my existing trans or buy a new one?

motor mounts I will do at the time when i swap/fix the trans that should fix the hop and make it run a bit smother, also is converting it to stick worth it? i like stick but not sure its worth the time/effort, its not like im racing this thing.

 

See IMO I honestly would never try to rebuild a Tranny, but at the same time im not the best with car's and would have to do many DIY's and so on. So I would end up spending the money on a quality item.

 

If you work for a shop and you've got people around you who know what they're doing, i'd say fix it if the transmission is otherwise in good shape. I would also replace your input shaft bearing while you're in there, since those love to go bad in our transmissions. But yea, sounds like you're gonna need to replace a couple syncros
