Question Problem with Coilsprings. Need some advice!

Hey there,

I have a 99 civic Si...

I got an adjustable lowering kit off my buddy. I checked it out,
online and it's for a my car so I thought all was good but I ran into a problem.

The front coils went on just fine, the problem is when I got to the back...
the coilspring with it's adjustable part doesn't want to sit properly on the
seat of the strut/shock absorber.

I have posted a description with pictures here: http://www.websimcoe.com/civic

Any help or direction on what I should do next would be
greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Kirk

hope you didnt pay much for those, they are cheapo ebay lower kit for like 25 bucks new.
the rubber o rings go around the shock then slie coilover over them to keep them from going sideways like that,

and your riding on stock struts that are prob blown or will be blown soon.....

same kit,

Default yea they are

Yea I know there cheap, I got them for free and wanted to make use of them.

I understand about the O-Rings, as i've done it on the front as you can see in the images. But it's the back, the place where the adjustable piece sits goes further down then on the fronts and there is no place for it to sit snugly

So that's why I was wondering if im missing a piece or if I can buy something for it.

Otherwise I might just buy all new, higher quality parts that I know will work. But looking for a solution for now..

What type of stuff did you upgrade to?

And when you did upgrade, I assume you bought all new shocks too

Yeah your problem is that they are just flat out crap. They'll blow out your shocks quick if you do install them.

I wouldn't leave them on for long. If you do install them, in the mean time start saving and researching a better suspension setup.

they are also saying don't buy a crappy set of adjustable coil overs But in my opinion if your going to replace your suspension you should replace everything even the struts and shocks!!

Default Right

OK well I think your right about just upgrading everything. That's the route I think I'll go.. I hate screwing around with half' *** stuff.

Also, The rear control arm/trail arm bolts snapped when I tried to take em off. It's the bolts that hold the strut in place at the bottom. I'm not EXACTLY sure what they are called but i'll also need the bushings...Apparently it's common for these bolts to snap... altho the parts are hard to find. I will check Honda dealership but i'd rather not since of high price.

Any suggestions?

thanks
