My ventillation fan started making noises. At first, it would rattle (like a baseball card in the bicycle spokes - remember those? I'm showing my age here). It was intermittent. But, now, it has progressed to being constant, coming on about 2-3 seconds after starting the fan, & it sounds like someone is beating the bass drum really fast. I am fairly certain it is something in the fan - maybe loose mount, or something hitting the fan blade as it rotates. I am fairly certain about this because the vents still work & change outlets (dashboard, floorboard, or defrost), but the noise stays constant. Also, it does not matter if the A/C is on or off, or if the thermostat is set to heat or cool - it continues to make it's unnerving sound.

I will look at the manual to see about R&R of the vent fan, but if anyone has any thoughts, I'd greatly appreciate any knowledge that can be shared..

 

Not sure if it matters, but it is a '98 Civic LX (original owner) with way more than the 127,000 miles the odo shows.
