Just a thought:

you Americans are known for your preference towards auto rather than manual (Stick).

Presumably you join these forums because you are variously in love with (your) cars, and enjoy driving.

It is accepted in certain civilised parts of the world, that driving is more fully experienced by the driver making gearchanges rather than the car doing it itself.

What do we all think? What is the probable proportion of manuals to autos out there?

My yet to be delivered '94 3 door hatch is, of course, manual.

nice... there is a reason why u can only get some sports cars in a stick. It would be a sin to drive a ferreri, viper, etc. with an automatic!

I wouldn't mind having the Ferrari Enzo with a 6-speed semi automatic gearbox

I think both auto & manual are great in my opinion. I prefer to drive with an auto for my daily car especially driving through NYC rush hour traffic after work. Weekend when I want to relax & enjoy my day, I would definitely prefer to have manual for sure.

Don't get me wrong, autos are "cool" but if you really like driving, it's gotta be a 5 speed.

yea yall are sooo right about a 5 speed. much much more power in my opinion...none of my friends w/ auto 4 cylinders can boil there tires in a parking lot..it jus seems like a waste of money to me...im still waiting to drive a stang 5.0......very light car
