RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

How many miles does it have? What are the different mods (looks like turbo and some other aftermarket parts from pic)? Did you ask him why he's selling it? No matter how nice a car looks you never know unless you dig deep. Get the pin number also.

If that car has more than 100 thou I wouldn't buy it for that price.

Other Info:
-Under the carpet, all the interior floor metal has been redone in chassis black while the car was apart. I just thought I would include that since some people strip everything out their cars out for weight savings. The car should be under 2000 lbs easily w/ no air bags, no ac,no power steering, and crank windows.

-My amp, sub, etc. will not be included with the car since they came out of one of my other cars temporarily.

-The engine was tuned to be reliable for roughly 350 hp for pump or 450 hp for race gas. I would rather have a safe tune and leave some power on the table.

-This car was built from an empty shell. Every part has been redone on the car. After finishing all of the work it has only had 1000-2000 miles put on it. The car runs and drives great. It’s a quick fun car but I simply don’t have the time to enjoy it and could use some money to pay for college. I really hate to sell it after all the time I put in it but college is more important. I have pictures to document the entire build and pictures to verify the internals of the engine. I have most all of the receipts for every part on the car.

-I spent a lot of time making this list so that you would know exactly what you are getting. I’ve tried to list the price for all of the major things on the car. As you can see I have roughly $19,000 in parts on the car w/o the install or labor costs. I’m asking $9000 obo for it. If you have any offer, email me. You won't offend me, like some people get. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me.

RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

the time to have obnoxiously sick cars is in high school and when you're much older

in other words, that would NOT be practical for me as a poor college student who has to park his car on the street. lots of new dings and scratches THIS SEMESTER alone. so if you're headed to college soon and will be driving that, you may want to rethink this.

if you're going to have something else, or are commuting to college (if that's where you're headed next) from home where you have a garage to put that clean looking hatchy in, GO FOR IT

I'm not trying to harsh your gig...that's a sick as **** car. please get that thing if it makes sense. someone who will treat it right deserves it. it's a beautiful machine.

RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

I like the car and i think its worth the 9000, but I would rather build my own ride from scratch rather to buy someone elses work. either way very nice and clean hatch. Go for it. make sure you buy a beater to...lol

Live_4it 04-27-2007 12:20 AM

RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

ya, i prefer the other direction myself. Buy a cheap used car do some mods to it myself that way I know exactly whats in it and how old parts are that I add. But thats just me...... that car is sweet and is def fully loaded If you got the cash and can afford it (keeping it up with tunes and stuff) Get it.

Spark 04-27-2007 12:44 AM

RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

^ +1 I also like the fact of buying a semi-beatin down car and building it up....seem to get more pride out of it. But like everyone else is saying, it is a clean car, and if you don't want to hassle with building a project car, pick it up.

RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

Thanks to everyone for yall's opinions. And i will be going to college next year. But im not to worried about the exterior of it that much, because if i bought it i would want to change the paint with in 2 years. But yeah i also would much better start off on my own. But i can not find any hatchs that are cheap. But i will let everyone know what i do. Thanks again guys.

Get it. I don't think you'll regret it. Talk him down to 8000, I almost want to offer this guy 8000 for it ;)
Just don't kill yourself street racing, but that's another topic for another thread.

RE: Should I buy this Hatch?

Do it!

I lost my chance to get my first hatch when I decided to buy a motorcycle instead. I still think about that hatch, dang.

Then I bought this HX a year ago after I sold my bike, and about a month ago I was in the same place as you, was going to sell the 96HX for $2000 b/c I found a clean hatch...I moved too slow on it and lost out on a very very clean and mildly hooked up 95 VX w/ only 114K on it for $2900...I'm in VA too and its hard to find a clean eg hatch (dont worry I wont creep on your ride I dont have 8 grand to spend) good luck

Pff not at our school. We have jackasses that key cars. Over 10 cars have been keyed in the past 2 school years. I know that's not many but when you have like 100 cars in the parking lot, you know.

why not? like i said before drive it and make sure its not making any noises or anything else.

how much horsepower is it putting down??

oh, and a 92 hatch was my first car... i thought it was amazing the first time i saw it...
turns out whoever did the engine swap didnt swap the computers, and there was many problems too... many expensive problems...
so get the car inspected first, just to be on the safe side...
i lost $5000 on my civic, and i hate to see you lose $8000....
just my 2 cents...

sorry bro. not to be a jerk, but college is worse. my old accord was keyed in high school. whoopdef-ingdo, I touched it up in about fifteen minutes. someone got up on top of my civic and crushed in my roof and pissed on my sunroof in college...one grand + and it took me four months to save it.

how's that grab you bub? **** happens. enjoy the mild reporaches found in parking your car in a garage or on the driveway at your parent's house while you can. besides, if you're under 18, you got fists. not saying it's the right thing, but that's how I solved my keying incident.

Sorry to hijack your thread. If the paint and the way it looks is not a problem for you, please get that car. It's looking so good that it'd be hard to pass something like that up. Just realize that colleges is hard on cars. Also, you'll probably need to run higher octane gas in it, and the constant tweaking that goes with a built and turboed car is going to be hard.

Make a checklist of things you want to look at/for when you're looking at the car. dentinger is right; be careful with your investment. It's a great looking car, and the prospect of buying it is going to be a real rush. Keep your head clear. Ask the questions that you need to ask and look at the things you really want to look at. No seller is going to be angry with you for being really anal about the car. Chances are good in this situation that the seller is going to LIKE the fact that you're anal about the car. Clearly, he was too.
