Default so im a dumb@ss but....

i got a new engine put in nothing special regular d15b7 but now he damn thing keeps overheating and starts to turn off but when i hit the gas and i mean hit the gas hard it starts to run again. if i go into a store for 50-10 minutes i need to pump the gas to get it going. my mechanic said if i had any problems just to bring it up and they would fix it for free so im going to take it up tonight but i was just wondering if anyone knows a what might be wrong and if is an easy thing to fix, whatevers wrong with it.

i didnt notice it was overheating untill i got about half way home and from the spot i was at it was all down a big hill so i just coasted down the side. i put my arm on the wheel in front of the temp gauge cause i never had a problem with it overheating before. when i was pumping the gas to get it started i didnt think to look at the gauge cause my friends 94 civc's fuel pump just went or was going and he had to do that so i thought maybe its just my cars time for a new pump.
