do your basics first. is it automatic or stick? take care of your air with cold air intake, headers and exhaust. then throw some better cams and get suspension done because there is no use of having power if you can not get it to the ground. if it is a stick i suggest getting better clutch like stage 3

Should have started with an SI... then you would have already been at your power goal for less money then it will take to mod and tune the LX.
Also you do realize you will be voiding your factory warranty? Also you have a lifetime warranty on your exhaust including rust damage. I know I just got my EX, and I am sticking with HFP stuff. I would hold out until your facotry warranty is behind you. It would suck to have something break and them say you voided it. |

the R18 engines have slightly-ovalized piston bores, which may make aftermarket makers wary offering turbo kits or superchargers for the engine.
i'm not aware of any companies that offer any kits as of right now. |

i think the intake manifold design may be a deterrant too. the r18 is all about NA performance and emissions reduction.

do some serious research about mods before you jump into anything. spend some time figureing out what will and will not void your warranty

leave it stock, civics are not race cars.

I have nothing against modding a car, but i would never buy a brand new car and imedately mod stuff that would void the warranty on it.

arent these newer cars.. lets say new civics.. even harder to mod.. and dont really look good with a body kit n stuff .. only with some nice 17's or 18's on em?

there aren't too many aftermarket parts for r18 engines yet, except for the usual i/h/e stuff.
as for turbos and superchargers, probably zero as far as stright out the box kits. i think i read that the intake manifold is one-piece plastic, too, which is a big problem. but give it some time. the original EG series hatchbacks were all about economy, but you can turn them into firebreathers today with all the aftermarket support. let's do some quick math. the r18 engine is rated at 140 hp at the crank. but video at Temple of VTEC shows that the engine actually puts out 136 or so hp at the front hubs. That means Honda is underrating the engines horsepower, probably for SAE engine testing. that means you need to get about 55 more hp to reach your goal. and i/h/e will give you 10-15 hp at the wheels at the most. that leaves you searching for another 40 horsepower or so. crank pulleys don't do much. APC stickerz aren't a real option either. lol. aftermarket cams and engine control units (if they ever come) might give you another 10-15 hp, but you still fall short. your best bet is to hope that a company like Jackson Racing creates a new supercharger for your car, like they did with the FIT. their superchargers usually create about 40-50 hp straight out the box, with no series mods to your engine block. |
