Default Tips for Cold air intake installation

I have a 1998 Honda Civic Lx. Wanting to instal a cold air intake system, I'm not positive on a brand yet, I was hoping for suggestions, but also any placement tips. I like the idea of in between the fender liner and bumper because no puddle problem, but I don't have the hole in the frame like that. do people cut that hole out them selves?

Yes some models dont come with the hole and you would have to cut it out. If your going cold air, I would HIGHLY suggest an ebay pipe with an AEM Dryflow filter...

If you go short ram you can get the AEM one for about same price as the ebay one......

If I didn't cut it out is there anywhere else for the pipe to go?

If you think you can get a filter/pipe down there without anything rubbing, hitting the ground etc etc, go for it. An intake system is not as complicated as you are making it. Just be sure not to go through huge puddles and submerge the filter completely as water can get sucked into the motor causing hydrolock.

How adjustable are the different pipes?

Actually, you CAN put a CAI on an LX model without the hole. I used an ebay kit with an APC filter. The pipe simply went in front of the transmission and sideways in front of the tire instead of over it and directly in front of the tire.

Yeah, that's my old setup. It fits in the same cavity as it would on an EX but it sits lower. The filter comes in right behind the bumper cover and behind the fender well liner. You have to pull the bumper cover off to install it, of course.
