tire size change
 

hi everyone!
my 06 lx 205/55/16 tires ride a little harsh. is it possible to use 205/60/16 tires instead, without mechanical problem? i'm looking for hankook optimo h727, any deals out there? pls forgive me if i posted this in the wrong place...it's been a while. thanks in advance. btw, i'm in long island ny.

The speedometer will be off by 3% (at 60mph it will read 62mph), not to mention after a while the true mileage of the car will be much lower than the odometer indicates.

But if that's fine with you, the 205/60-16s will fit perfectly in place of the 205/55s.

My 06 LX speedometer compared to a WAAS enabled GPS shows that my civic speedometer is about 1.7 MPH fast. This means that the warranty runs out prematurely as well as anything else that depends on mileage, i.e., tires, oil, etc. Replace your 205/55/16 tires with 205/60/16 and your speedometer will be closer to accurate. The 60's circumference is 2.5355" greater than the 55's. You can also expect to gain about a mile more per gallon. The ride is improved and there are no clearance issues.

The noise may be from your rear upper control arms if they haven't been replaced, they were a design flaw straight from the Honda factory that caused the rear tires to wear unevenly on the inside causing a roaring sound and horrible ride. Buy aftermarket adjustable control arms and have a proper alignment done. You won't believe the difference.

you could get some 15's then run a sidewall 1" taller, overall diameter will be the same so speedometer and mileage won't be affected, and you'll have a softer ride.
