Default Turbo D16 or swap for B18b1

Should i turbo my D16 or just do a swap. Im really just experimenting trying to find what i like I want to turbo but i also what to swap. But i rather experience with a turbo on my D16 than a $2000 motor swap...Btw its my hatch with a D16

Just out of curiosity if you were to do a swap, why get a b18b? Out of those two options I'd just boost the d. There are better engines than a b18b

just boost the D. SOHC's do well with boost and make lots of torque, despite popular opinion among people who don't know what the eff they're talking about. lol

yeah, well I dunno if you have noticed or not... but there's alotta idiots out there that don't know what they're talking about.

turbo D's are great Daily drivers. If you plan on going over 300hp (any more than that is too much for the street in a fwd anyways) then you might need to get the engine sleeved... but like I said, 300hp is way more than you'll ever need in a daily driven car.

A basic turbo parts list will probably cost you $1000-$2000, depending on what parts you find and for how much. And a good tune will probably be $300 initially, then around $100 for a re-tune every time after, which I get done twice a year. On a basic setup you might be safe doing it once a year, but I get it done beginning of summer and beginning of winter.

Emissions was my only concern before I went into all of this, but you drive a 93 so that's not a worry for you.

Without a doubt I would say you would enjoy a turbo civic over a swap.

I would recommend upgraded pistons, rods, and arp head studs. Do not go with a no name turbo. They won't last long, maybe a year of normal/aggressive driving+drag racing. You can find GOOD new turbo's for around $800, but you can find proper rebuilds of a name brand T3 for $300-$400 and it'll be just like new, just make sure the seller has a history of highly rated feedback for turbos.

If you do everything right, you shouldn't have any worries, just need to check on oil levels more frequently, at least once a week of daily driving.

Be prepared to keep spending money here and there just upgrading a bunch of things to get to a point where you're content. It won't be cheap in the end.

Yeah just boost the D. It will be better and alot more fun in the long run, if you do it right of course. And just like shandles has mentioned, most people don't know what they're talking about and just jump on the DOHC bandwagon. D series motors can be pretty mean
