Hello All,

I'm new to the forums. My older daughter has a 2013 Civic and my younger daughter is about to purchase a used one. She has narrowed it down to 2 choices.
The first choice is a 2010 DXG, 114,000 miles, new tires, very good condition, $6000 (Canadian funds). Sale is by a reputable dealer, 30 day warranty.
The second choice is a 2008 DXG, 121,000 miles, newer tires, interior not quite as nice, but still good. The exterior has a little more signs of wear. Not awful, but a number of small stone chips on the front, a few nicks and scatches on the sides. AC does not work, seller is a private individual. Price is $4000 (Canadian).

This vehicle will have to last her 4-5 years. I would appreciate your opinions on what vehicle would be a better choice? Would one be better for resale down the road?
Also regarding the AC, the mechanic told the seller the he could do a "cheap non permanent fix" for under $100 - from that, my guess is that there is a freon leak and he was suggesting to recharge the system. It was nice of the seller to tell us that - in the end he did nothing. This is the second civic we looked at today with no AC working - is this common on civics? Any guesses on what he likely cost may be to repair it?

it depends what exactly is wrong with the AC, does the compresser not work does the clutch not work, or does it just need freon ??? either way they are hondas so they are reliable already and should last a long time with proper maintenance.
