want to buy a civic (hx, dx etc)

hi i am looking to get a good fuel economy car (daily driver) and so the civic came to mind.

i did a quick research on the civics and the 98 year model came in the HX version? it only comes in coupe and seemed to have the best gas mileage, especially the manual trans? 35 mpg?

how does it compare to the hatchback manual version?

which one has a bigger trunk space? that is with the hatch back not lowering the rear seats.

will lowering the car and getting rims effect gas mileage much? if so, better or worse?
also would getting an intake and exhaust help or hurt gas mileage?

ps- is getting a Vtech engine be worth it? i'd think the MPG isn't too different than the non vtech?

any insight in my new purchase would be appreciated!

any civic should get 35mpg
idk bout trunks never owned anything besides hatchs
lowering improves aerodynamics so would slightly improve mpg
depends on the rims whether it increases or decreases mpg
intake an exhaust theoretically improve mpg but dont really make much of a difference unless u floor it more because u like the sound and that would decrease the mpg

and vtec is worth it cuz as long as u stay out of vtec youll get about the same mpg but when u want a lil more power u have it
