what the best wheel aned tire size upgrade for civic 95 lx sedan

i bought 17" 205/4017 put them on but i think the slow me down a lil but nice fit no rubbing, the problem is a lil decrease in performance. i wonder if anybody could suggest a nice combination of rims and tires that would be perfect for my civic.

I had 17 on a 95 lx also and they seemed huge on the car and really bumpy. If i could do it again i would just stick with 15 or 16s. They look nice and dont weigh as much as the 17s

ditto

I still have the stock wheel but I have seen some 96-98 civics with 15's and I think they look good.

If I got wheels I would go with the 15's - they look somewhat factory but still look aggressive without killing your mileage and performance.

I like 16s on the older Civics. 205/45-16s on lightweight wheels (Rota Slips or similar) will perform just fine, unless you need a narrower tire for snow or something. 17s are just too big for those smaller wheelwells, IMO. They look like wagon wheels.

What's stock size for that?
14"?

I'm no expert and still pretty new to cars, but the performance drop...
You just added an extra 2-3" on diameter, it takes a lot more to get those things spinnin
also with the lower profile (mine are 175/65 I think), there's more tire on the ground, more friction.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just kinda guessing and throwing words around to sound smart :)

Going from a steel 14x5.5 and 185/65R14 combo to a lighter-weight alloy 17x7 and 205/45R17 combo shouldn't bog acceleration, given that the overall tire diameter/combo weight/tire weight is not increased.

I dislike you Kommando =p

Well, that's why I'm new to this and am saying my suggestions/questioning may be a waste of time!

I definitely didn't consider any of that, which I really should have...but I didn't know any of the materials for the new wheels, so...

There yah go!

The stock ones on the HX are very nice and light. i had them on my hx, but gave them to a friend for working on my car. i have 14' american racing. they look a lil the same.

good grip for tires is 185/50's
but my friend rolls on 215/40/16s there pretty nice but if u want low weight n good grip for performance i say 185/50/14s n falken tires are great
