what kinda of spark plugs?
 

hey guys, i have a 96 lx civic and am planning on changing the spark plugs. so i was wondering what kinda plugs are everyone using. i was thinking about using the bosch platinum 4. what do you guys think?

i'm running the stock ngk ones at 1.99 each, don't remember which ones though. people say don't run bosch in jap cars, don't know what the reasoning is nor do i care enough to search since ngk is readily available at autozone... but i'll let someone else chime in on that

yea i have a toyota too and people say the same thing about the bosch plugs. but i can't see why not either. but there was bocsh plugs in her when i got her and i had it for 4 years never had any problems. i'd like to know the reasoning behind why not to use them

bosh plugs don't come ready to just buy and install, u have to adjust the gap on them... i think thats the reason why people say not to get them because when i got them my car was runnin a bit funny then i checked the gap and they weren't on the right setting. one was too closely shut and the other 3 were too open... after that i had no problems... but on my next purchase i'll try those that trust says...

How would you gap those properly? Maybe I just don't see how it would work gapping them as you would with a traditional spark plug.

Maybe around $8-$12 (depending on what store, and state taxes), but I agree with trust. NGK V-spec for a stock car is perfect. Pick up a spark plug gapper ($1), some anti-seize ($2-3) if you don't have either of them yet. Put the anti seize on the threads of the spark plug, make sure the plugs are gapped correctly and install!

i think the bosch plugs are 20 bucks for 2 at Canadian tire. which i guess is a waste if they aren't any better then the oem plugs. but with the electrodes exposed like that of a bosch spark plug be more likely to fire versus the traditional spark plug?

I've got Autolite plugs in my 94 LX. It wasn't me, the previous owner did it
