Default what octane

I just droped in a b16a sir2 in to my 94 civic what octane should I be running

yup... 10.6:1 compression ratio = premium gas.

you can run mid-grade or higher quality low grade, but premium is just recommended. Then again, a couple extra cents isn't that big of a deal when you're modifying your car in the first place.

its 10.4:1, and yeah, you need premium. those engines will knock on mid-grade. a lot of newer cars its recommended, but not required, thats not true with the dohc vtecs. its necessary to prevent detonation.

just remember, it also depends on the gas stations quality of gas. like BP's is a little better than your average local station, just keep that in mind.

^+1 I try my hardest to use BP exclusively. Their gas stations are usually just so nice looking and clean, it really gives a better atmosphere and makes me feel like their fuel is cleaner and more pure too. Plus, I have experienced better gas mileage with BP over other companies.

i only use bp and ive gotten 30 mpg on a b16a2
