Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I was just curious...I know the civics go faster...At least faster than the last body style ones..

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
what year, what engine?
|
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I think like a 98 but could be a little older or a little newer. Its before the last body change in 2005. Its a 3.2 liter engine I think.

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
??? Ok, what "the" civics? what year? do you mean a civic dx or and Type-R? There are a lot of variables there and you need to be a little more specific. Question is kind of pointless, but if you must know, you need to be specific about the civic you are talking about.

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
Im sorry its a civic ex 2 door 127hp....
I forgot to ad that info. I just wondered what took off faster and wondered if anyone knew. Maybe I should have posted this in the racing section. |
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
highly depends on what year stang, but most gts had 200hp plus some all fox bodies were around 215 unless ur talkn early 80s and they made some real turd 5.0s then so what year stang??

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I would think that the "general" answer to that question is "no!" There can be exceptions, depending on the Civic, the Mustang, and who's driving each but as a rule, I wouldn't expect a Civic to take a Mustang.

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I have a 99 ex with a D16 and it only has a short ram and a full exhaust. so that probably only about 10-15hp if that added. I'd say it would be pretty close if it has a 3.2L. a lot of those mustangs had 3.8's in them. If thats the case i'd say the mustang by a little. my friend has one and i've been in both.

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
a stock z6 or y8 coupe could take a 3.8 v6 stang if it was an auto for sure but if both were manual then it would prolly be a drivers race mid 90s v6 stangs r only makin bout 150-170 hp at the flywheel and autos with the v6 run low 17s soa civic coupe with a good driver could take a v6 stang but a gt u better be boosted lol
|
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I would say the mustang... I've own a few but only v8.
|
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
Driven correctly even a auto V6 stang will take any bolt on civic ex. So the answer to your question it no

Your kidding right?? The fugly spaceshuttle Si's were only low 16 second cars at best. Ive had the displeasure of being beaten by a V6 mustangthat had a half-assed cobra body kit and some bolt ons. 15.00. He was running the same times as some tool in his brand new S2gay

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I can answer this with honor ... I have a 86, 90 and a 92 GT all V8 the only thing done to them is exhaust but every thing else is not touched.I took on a new civic si like 3 weeks ago with my 86 and blew his doors. He was all like shooting off his mouth on how the si was built to take on muscle cars and stuff but later he lost, he now wants to sell his wip..I tell you somthing the si is a beautiful car. He had a body kit and stuff but not enough motor

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
These two cars (v6 v8) and the civic are two very different cars.....so the ony way to compare them is when you count on turbos and upgrades in the equation.
And then you will come to the question which car is lighter (2300 lb-2738lb VS. 3400lb)and which car will LAST longer? The price second handtells it all. |
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
i just read an article in the september issue of motor trend that could help with some facts
they state the the new mustangs, including the upcoming shelby gt convertible, 319hp v8, to the lowest trim automatic has a 0-60 time of 4.5-7.6 seconds and then the civic from all the trims has 6.7-11.3 seconds so if you take the new civic si coupe and take it against the new mustang v-6 automatic, then the civic with a time of 6.7 will beat the 7.6 for the mustang, but i'm concluding that generally the mustang will win with different trims seeing the time ranges but like gogom said, price is always a factor where the base price for the civics are 15600-23500 while the mustangs are 19995-48800 so if you look at the price, you can use the extra money with buying a civic to mod it faster than a stock mustang, but here you're asking for stock vs stock so ignore me if you want |
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
Back for the OP...I have a friend with a 2000 v6 automatic stang, and my 96 ex coupe with i/h/e will beat his in a straight line. Granted it all depends on drivers and all that crap, but against a 96-00 or whatever year those stangs were, the auto six is not fast at all.

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
I would say yes to a 94-98 V6 stang for certain.I raced one about2 years ago from 30-110. I led the whole way. Don't know if it was auto or manual...

And while we're on the topic of civic to V6 mustang performance. I dont suppose anyone here saw the last FordV6 performance challenge. http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...nge/index.html The winner has a built 94-98 style V6 mustang running 10.1 in the 1/4. Thats same guy now has it in the 9s. and an NA V6 built to do high 11s. |
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
Should probably be a lil more specific with the topic but if we are talking about a STOCK civic and a STOCK mustang, I think that the mustang would definitely take off faster. Now when we start talking about different modd scenarios then thats where the civic would have a shot.

My friend had a 1997 Auto Stang and thought he was the **** and thought every one on the street was trying to race him

RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
After being a previous owner of a Mustang and switching over to the Civic is going to be quite the change. Mustangs are muscle, they have speed and the start is no difference. The big problems they do have is trying to keep there traction since they have power.
|
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
i wouldn't say that the cost/performance ratio favors the mustang a lot more, it's easy to get a light civic a lot faster with cheap upgrades than a heavy mustang faster with similar upgrades
|
RE: Would a stock civic coupe take off faster than a stock mustang?
okay just to clear this up, stock v6 stangs have a 3.8 and gt's have a 4.6, a stock v6 is making 200 or close to and your makin 127? i think that is what you said, also stangs are rearwheel drive so they take off faster, unles your boosted the stang will have you, and h22 might be ablr to keep up as well but thasts about it. i dont think they make a 3.2, i could be wrong but ive never heard of it before.
