ok guys, ive been doing a crap load of work to my newest vehicle, its a 89 jeep wrangler with a carb'd 4.2 and automatic. so i have tons of pics and thought you would like to see my progress.
if you guys remember i had a 24ft pontoon boat, well i traded it for the jep wrangler cause its going to be getting cold soon and i needed another 4x4 jeep since i totaled my big white grand cherokee. Attachment 6550 Attachment 6551 after owning it for a couple of days i starting noticing things that needed fixed Attachment 6552 Attachment 6553 Attachment 6554 also grabbed some boomerang shackles and installed them old stock ones Attachment 6555 new ones Attachment 6556 and while installing them i dropped the gas tank and fixed the fuel sending unit Attachment 6557 then i took the crappy plastic valve cover off cause it leaked like crazy and installed an aluminum valve cover Attachment 6558 i also had a broken rear drive shaft and when it broke it also broke the tail cone on the tranfer case, but i had extra parts laying around and it was a quick fix Attachment 6559 next i swapped the rims and did it all by hand Attachment 6560 Attachment 6561 while doing that i noticed the rear brakes were broke, so i fixed that also Attachment 6562 then i wired up the KC lights Attachment 6563 |

next i installed a radio and amplifier
Attachment 6539 then i did a trans fluid and filter change Attachment 6540 Attachment 6541 then i pulled the carb off and rebuilt it Attachment 6542 Attachment 6543 then took a break workin on it and just trail rode the hell out of it. i have tons of pics and videos Attachment 6544 Attachment 6545 then recently i started have a grind sound. it sounded like a broken flex plate (its comin with automatic jeeps) so i decided it would be easier to pull the engine then to drop trans, transfer case and drive shafts Attachment 6546 you can see it was grinding Attachment 6547 the flex plate was in perfect shape it wasnt broke Attachment 6548 i eventually found out that the crank is worn and moving bad and forth causing the flex plate to hit the housing Attachment 6549 |

Attachment 6528 so as of right now im converting my carb'd , automatic jeep to a MPFI 5 speed jeep Attachment 6529 im pulling everything out of the parts jeep and installing it into my jeep Attachment 6530 Attachment 6531 all my old auto stuff and carb'd wiring harness Attachment 6532 and with my Mechanics in Training i got a few others things done My son swapped over the side steps onto my jeep Attachment 6533 Attachment 6534 Attachment 6535 and then they removed the auto shifter stuff and installed the 5 speed stuff Attachment 6536 Attachment 6537 Attachment 6538 |
Sweet project man. The terrain up there looks a lot like the terrain down here. Good luck with the swap. That little girl looks a lot like her dad!

Cute kids Mitch.
Holy **** you have been busy. You're lucky to have support from your family in order to be doing this. Although, I am sure you are bringing in money from it all so it should be all good. Hell, I buy a motor, work on it for a week and it created doubt and ultimately ruined the relationship I had with my g/f. /rant about my life. Keep up the good work dude. |

great project man! Makes me wish I still had my old 85 Bronco trail rig. Thing was a blast to drive off road, it just ate sooooo much friggin gas using it as my daily...
I've always wanted to pick up an old Jeep to work on, I just don't have the time/space/money these days. |
give it a wash,
these wranglers are so solid they can take alot of damage and carry on! |
