I'm sick of wasting time on that valve cover. The seals wouldn't come out BEFORE it was in a 600 degree oven getting powdercoated. They flake off and fall into pieces but the part that's in the groove will NOT come out. I grabbed a torch and started to burn them out but the torch crapped out and ended up learning how to fly down the hill I live on. It would take 4 or 5 hours at the rate I was going to scrape the old seals out. Is there any kind of chemical solution?

I might just get rid of all the forced induction parts and go N/A since this engine needs a rebuild anyways. It's probably cheaper.

You could sell everything you've piled up turbo wise and go b series... an all motor sohc isn't going to do ****. I respect anyone who does it, but you can't expect much. You may be able to keep up with a stock b16, but nothing more. I don't know how expensive engines are by you but a gsr or b16 can be had for under 1.5k by me. I'm looking at going lsv, which even at that a full ls swap is under 1k by me. I just feel that if you are going to put the money into building a sohc n/a I'd just get a stock dohc, and down the line you'd have a ton of potential with the dohc. Just my $0.02

You missed the part where I said I'm poor and can't afford stuff, right? Besides, I already have lines, pedals, clutch MC.

you make more money than me and im able to do it. just dont expect it to be done all at once, and ive got tons of stories were ive ****ed myself over on builds and stuff. my suggestion is go for the build first i wouldnt have had the vc painted. stay away from the looks go for build first because you are gonna have to problem solve alot. after everything is built and put together and swapped into the civic then dress it up.

Agreeedd!!!

You need to have this project or you'll possibly just sit around and be miserable and kick your self in the *** for it later.

Keep it maybe modify your build accordingly... If your going to do N/A then sell all your Turbo stuff for a little extra money... Maybe start doing work for other people on the side to make a little extra money to help out...

I don't make a lot of money either... But then again I live with my dad & he doesn't make me pay rent and a lot of what I got my BF accquired through his friends or aquaintances.

Just keep your head up everything happens for a reason, don't abandon your build just because tiems are tough... Sometimes things take a ltitle longer then you'd like. But you have to be PATIENT!

This. Things do randomly happen and it sucks, but that's the price you pay for modding a 10-15 year old car. If it makes you feel any better, my trans is now developing a grind at rpms above 4k when going into third. Damn synchros. Oh yea, and my subwoofer randomly just started cutting in an out on my way to work. I have to take it apart and see if there is anything wrong with it now. Also, my driver door is rubbing on my fender since it is not aligned 100%. What fun.

Just remember, do what you can do with the money/time you have. Over extend yourself and stuff starts to fall apart. Hopefully, the project is not 100% done. Keep us updated Hobo.

I assume you also live with the 'rents? If so, this is not a good example b/c I would bet on that Hobo has a few more bills to pay than you. Sorry if it is an incorrect assumption.
