Reaper's Mustang Project (abridged version)
ya plus lets face it hes not buying brand new oem parts, which means a good deal.
its the same reason why people buy dx, ex civics and convert them into SI models its fairly simple to do and just as good... and also cheaper car insurance.
and like said before.... its a whole different feeling and respect when you do your own upgrades....

Wow... out of control build thread lol
Okay, I could sell my mustang for $4k if I'm lucky. I could then spend $20k on a terminator cobra. Now, the exact same insurance coverage I have on my v6 would be $2,100/year for a gt. Now, I don't have quotes for a termi, but I'd imagine the same coverage would be around $2,500-$3,000/year. So I'm spending $16k out of pocket (which I don't have, nor do I have the credit to get a loan, nor do I have the means to pay off a loan considering I'm in college), then the insurance costs per year, and then the cost of modifications.
or
I can keep paying $1,146/year on insurance, spend another $20k, and have spent under $30k for a 600-700rwhp 4.2L TT 6-speed mustang.
Now what happens more often? Do people build cobras? Or do people build v6 stangs that can destroy over half the cars on the road? I'll take the more original one that comes with the bragging rights, even if it does cost $30k. Besides, $30k for a true sports car (notice I didn't say muscle car... what with the suspension setup I plan on having, I want it to be more of a sports car than a straight line car) isn't bad in the long run. I mean, what's more fun? Rolling up to a corvette on the highway in a cobra and taking him or cruising up beside one in a v6 and blowing his doors off, then laughing at him for getting beat by a 6?
Also, I'd like to point out that the 3.8/4.2L block is good for well over 700rwhp... so the reliability issue doesn't really come into play. After all, I'm building the engine (bottom end) to handle the extra power anyway.
Side note: as soon as the guy gets back to me, I'm going to be paypal-ing him the money for some nice GT side scoops.

And student loans are why the project is scheduled to be finished in 2011 lol
(Oh, and I actually don't post much about what I'm doing on MustangForums or 3.8mustang. There's really no point in posting about it considering I'll probably get b****ed at for not wanting "normal" mustang wheels, for wanting a 6-speed, for getting IRS (since we all know live axles are so much better
), etc)*edit: also, I think what I'm going to do with my hood, blackout panel, and rear bumper is I'll get some black spatter paint and some flat black trim paint... use the spatter paint to try to get a textured plastic kind of finish on it, and then use the trim paint to give it a satin black tone. Hopefully, it will give it the molded plastic effect that will match my Mach 1 chin spoiler. If it doesn't look good, all I have to do is wet sand the finish off and give it another clear of satin black and go back to the look I have now. I'll probably do that in a few weeks when I get bored one weekend. Also, the wheels will hopefully be painted in a few weeks (flat black)

Needs more kb cobra..
Nah seriously though i think everyone is taking my post the wrong way except for reaper.
im not judging his build in any way shape or form just providing a cheaper alternative
its not like i dont think a tt v6 would be cool.
