Reaper's Mustang Project (abridged version)
Post whoring:
Well, the good news is I got the car on the alignment rack today. The bad news is I'm fairly certain I have a bent spindle. The "before" specs were:
FL:
Camber -1.2*
Caster 3.0*
Toe 0.20*
FR:
Camber -2.8*
Caster 3.2*
Toe 0.12*
I dialed in as much positive camber as the factory adjustments would allow for the FR (the side I got hit on), but it only took me to -2.2* camber. At the same time, I maxed out the negative camber on the FL (to try to get the sides even) and it took me to -1.7*. So I'm sitting at 0.4* cross-camber until I can get aftermarket C/C plates. I didn't have time to get the toe completely corrected today, so I'll hopefully be doing that monday. Also, I didn't have time today to turn my rotors and balance the wheels, so hopefully I'll be able to do that monday also (assuming one or more of my wheels isn't bent).

Well, I got a good bit of work done to the car today. I (hopefully for the last time) fixed the exhaust leak (so much easier when the car's on a 2-post rack lol), as well as machined all four rotors and replaced the brake pads. The rotors were in serious need of work; I stuck a dial indicator to the fronts. If the numbers mean anything to anyone, they'll see how bad the car was. The front left had .008" of run-out and the front right had .013" run-out. Now that the rotors are nice and straight, the car's actually comfortable to decelerate in lol
Anyway, I was planning on painting the wheels this weekend, but the weather forecast is calling for rain for the next week, so it looks like that's not going to happen anytime soon =[

Yeah, definitely a ton better than a jack and stands. It made it so much easier to drop the h-pipe and work with it.
Anyway, I don't think I mentioned it, but the new paint job is actually being bumped up to next year instead of the end of the project. The reason being is that I'll have the new body parts (front bumper, hood, mirrors, side skirts, side scoops, trunk, spoiler) that will need paint, so I might as well just have the whole car sprayed down. My friend Jack (he does auto body and is quite good with a spraygun) said he'd do the car for $150 plus the cost of paint. Right now, I'm thinking two tone; the stock Performance red on the body, keep exposed carbon fiber to make up the blackout panels on the hood and trunk, and gloss black on the roof, A-pillar, and sail panel.
For the roof, I'm thinking something like this:

i like the 2 tone scheme. ive been thinking of doing my civic like that but just to hard to get it to flow right.
hows the rear paint going to flow? thats the hardest part to flow clean IMO.

Well, the c-pillar on new edge mustangs is actually a separate piece, so there's a hard body line there. I'm thinking it should look decently clean just painting the a-pillar, roof, and sail panel. Then the top of the trunk deck, long-tail spoiler, and sides of the hood will all still be red.
