Default 01 LX CAI upgrade

Hi, I just bought a 01 Civic LX 4dr with all stock components. I was wondering that if just upgrade the cold air intake alone will instantly gain another 5-10 hp without header and exhaust upgrade? My goal is to gain just another 5-10 hps without having installing one of those high performce but loud exhaust. Any suggestion is greatly appriciated

from the inside of the car, a CAI will be louder than a good performance exhaust (save for the thundermuff). it will basically sound like a vacuume on ur car. besides...most good performance exhausts arent that loud. greddy evo2, rsr, megan racing to name a few. magnaflow is a little louder but still sounds good.

So you're saying get a good exhaust instead? will that alone have any power gain?

alone:

CAI: 5-8
Exhaust: 6-10
Header: 3-8

unfortunately the three together will at best average about 16-18. those numbers up there are from stock, and since they all free it up a little bit, it wont give as much of a power gain when you add something else.

thats just a muffler. and the N1 exhaust is LOUD. you wouldnt want that.

a real exhaust is something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRedd...QQcmdZViewItem

the problem with ur generation is that most aftermarket stuff is for the EX...not much LX support. but the only difference between the two is cat placement. If you get an EX header (it will fit cuz all D series parts are interchangable) then you can put an EX exhaust on an LX.

again...if you want quitet the best would be that greddy evo up there...megan racing and magnaflow are good choices too.

wow...its 5 in the morning. im going to bed.

alone:

CAI: 5-8
Exhaust: 6-10
Header: 3-8
exhaust 6-10? more like 2-6 at most. unless your running boost.

exhaust actually frees up a lot of power over stock. the crush bend 1.5" piping stock is restrictive as hell...theres so much extra flow from an aftermarket exhaust

btw...dj posting here reminds me...youd prolly like the skunk2 exhaust too.
