09 Civic Newbie (Exhaust, general questions)

Hey everyone I am looking at purchasing an 09 Civic with 18K in miles on it. I have a couple questions before making the purchase. At idle in park the car's exhaust sounds a little like a moped.... a quiet moped, more of a purring but its audible for sure. I thought the car at idle would be very quiet, when I give the engine a little gas the muffler quiets down to nearly silent. I have test drove 1 other civic and the exhaust sounded identical. I didnt know if this was coincidence or if there was an issue. The car is still under its bumper to bumper so I shouldn't worry too much but wanted some advice from a current owner with factory exhaust. Also the tires on the car seem to have more tread on the inside than the outside so I am concerned about the alignment. Are there any current chronic problems with 09 civics or should I jump at the chance to own one? I can get it certified by the dealer for $500 extra.... worthwhile investment? Thanks in advance for any advice.

its really all about personal prefrence is this just a 09 civic or a 09 civic si. as for the exust most of the newer civics (excluding the si) come with really good resinators and this is what makes your ride quite. if your looking for some sound out of it when u buy it but dont want it to loud pike up a $60 DC Sports Muffler from pepboys i recently baught one for my 05 civic lx special edition and i love it

^^Your definition of loud is probably not like others. Also, with exhaust parts, you get what you pay for. It may good at first, but could possibly start to sound like cr4p after 6 months or so.

The 06-11 Civic Si's do have a more noticeable exhaust note at idle compared to the "lower" models. If you are looking at one (SI) then that is normal, otherwise, it should be quiet unless there is a hole somewhere.

I am actually looking for it to be very quiet, my fiance hates that it makes any noise even at idle.... when she can't even hear it... :) I drove another civic and listened to the exhaust and it sound exactly the same so I am convinced that its just how they all sound which is fine with me. The civic is just an LX not an SI. Are there any problems with these vehicles that occur frequently that I should be aware of?
