2000 Civic Ex Cpe

I'm currently driving a 2000 civic ex cp 5-speed and i cant decide on what type of exhaust and suspension mods to get. In terms of exhaust im not into the whole ricer sound i just want something that is going to provide a lil more power, smooth sound and give me some better gas mileage. And is it necessary to buy a full catback system rather than just the muffller. In terms of suspension im planning on buying a set of 16in rims and was wondering if i would need to get a susp kit to accomodate the new wheels.

If anyone has any advise or ideas please let me kno,

Thanks

If you dont want too much of a ricey sound look into Apex WS or WS2 exhaust...they are the world sport series and are made for people that want more performance but are just the average daily drivers, im sure it gives it a deeper sound...also go to U-tube and search for cars like yours so you can hear what they sound like....just a muffler wont really give you performance like a full catback system...and for suspension i would really recommend getting strut/sway bars...the one that goes under the hood, in the trunk, and the 2 under the car...you can get all four for like $70 on ebay...im investing on some shortly...I have a 99 ex coupe and my stock wheels are 14' so i believe yours are the same...16s wouldnt be a problem,

if you dont want to do a major suspension upgrade then you can just by some sport springs (i.e. eibech, tien) that shouldnt cost mor than 200 i dont think. coilovers would be the best bet, they just cost a lot more.

coilovers and springs shouldn't even be compared. coilovers are like $800-$1000+ where as springs are like $150-$300

If I were you if you are really interested in performance, don't get those cheap ebay strut/sway bars off of ebay. Sure they look good but they really aren't doing much for you. Invest in a coilover setup for your suspension mods,THEN save up for a nice set of strut/sway bars. Otherwise if you're just interested in looks then the ebaystrut and swaybarswill do just fine.

It's better to do everything right the first time... it will keep you from being unhappy with your car and you get better overall quality out of name brand parts... many people have probably made that mistake on this forum, i know i have and i learned my lesson... just do everything right the first time aound....

i agree 100% get the good stuff first. exhaust, i suggest the greddy evo2. i have never heard anything bad about it and from what i have heard, its a fairly quiet exhaust.

i have a 2000 ex coupe also, and i put the magnaflow cat back, on it. it is a nice sounding exhaust that fits flush, and center with a stock rear bumper. it was about 440$

Hey man...i'm also looking into buying the magnaflow cat back system for my 2000 SI coupe...what's your experience been like with the system? any compaints? how's the sound? do you have a pretty noticeable gain in hp? i'm trying to find the right product before i settle down and make the decision...GReddy is also on the list...if you could let me know how your magnaflow has been that'd be great.

thanks,
matt
