99 si intake problems
How's it going fellas. My bro has issues with his si. The engine sounds like it'll turn over when you initially crank it but it ends up dying. We've changed the fuel filter thinking that it was fuel delivery and we also checked the pump, both checked out fine. We checked the spark from the distributor cap to the plugs and everything checked out ok. We then went to the tps with an ohm meter and that also checked out just fine. Now we're out of ideas. Any suggestions?
first off, the title of your post is 99 si intake problems and in the post you say nothing about the intake, next time dont post this in the intake sections and make a better title, like "Engine wont Start." Have you checked the battery? sure its not dead?
Sorry about that bro. I'm still new to the forum, second time I've posted. The battery is still good, cranks but just won't turn over. We had a chat with an autozone guy said he has a buddy that knew hondas and said it might be a vacuum leak or tps sensor gone bad.
Does it ever run right or is this only an intermittent problem?
When you turn the key all the way, but not to the point where you start it, does your check engine light (should be like yellow-orange) come on for a few seconds and then turn off?
I'm thinking the main relay could have a problem.

This problem happened a week ago after my brother hit a really nasty pothole in the road. It hasn't started ever since. The car is completely stock except for an aem intake that runs under the bumper. The dash doesn't even throw the check engine light.
Does the fuel pump prime for two seconds when you turn the key to ON(II)?
Have you checked for spark at all four plugs? Is the spark bright blue or weak orange in color?
Have you checked whether the timing belt skipped a tooth or two? To do this, check whether the cam and crank are no longer properly synchronized at TDC1.

I'll be sure to jack up the car and check all the belts and also check to see if the cams line up. We've changed out the fuel filter and it was pressurized so that should say that the fuel pump is still working. We've also changed out the spark plugs too with some ngk's. Just our luck, street sweeping is thursday and its going to rain until then. Oh well. I'll keep you guys posted until we figure this out. Thanks
Spark is generated by the coil in the distributor. Even if the spark plugs are new but the coil is failing, the spark will be too weak to ignite fuel in the cylinders. Is spark at the plugs a bright bluish color or a weak orange color?
