aem or injen short ram?

i have a stock 2000 ex and was wanting to start off with an intake for my first mod. i didnt want to spend the money on a cai so i had found two short ram intakes on andysautosport.com and was wondering wich to get. i found an injen intake with a heat shield and the aem wich is cheaper i was wanting to get some advice on these intakes and if you have a site that you trust and has good prices that i could buy from too that would be great. thanks for your help.

actually i dont know if the injen intake comes with a heat shield. i posted that it does but i think im wrong. what site do you use? do u prefer a heat shield or not? i feel that i want an intake that has one.

Well when it comes to websites i'm pretty sure i'm not alone when i say always go to EBAY first, almost every mod i've done (quite a few) has been off of EBAY, the prices are ALWAYS cheapier than any other website. Now if you are pretty set on a SRI then its pretty much up to you whether you want the INJEN or AEM you will get arguments for both, but heat shield for an intake? I dunno about that one.

If you are talking about the pipe being red or polished then I say polished. Red would be too much.

Those heat sheilds are a good idea. I am gonna fab one up for mine. They keep the radiant heat away form your intake charge. Heat is bad.

As far as which one to get, just get the cheaper one.

I have the Injen SRI and it's great. But then again I don't know about the AEM SRI. If I'm not mistaken, Injen also offers at an additional price an extension pipe that will convert your SRI into CAI.

thats exactly why i told him to get the injen one :P cuz he can convert it into a CAI for 100 bucks when he realizes that CAI is better :P

I'm thinking about getting it also. It'll be cool to switch for winter and summer. The price is affordable also.

i live in east tn so i was thinkin about rain. what is the chances of water getting into the cai. i just feel comfortable with the sri so i was going to go with the cheaper of the two.

I recommend the Injen Short Ram. You can switch to a CAI if you care to do so later on by buying the extension pipe. Just to state what I have heard here on HCF, a CAI has to be submitted totally in water in order for your engine to hydro lock.

ebays short ram would be perfect, they are all pretty much the same w/ a sticker on it besides the v2, but out of those two i'd go w/ aem (better color choice)

yeah i agree... u should get injen so if later on u were to want cai and explore somethin new u could do so.

here is the link. check it out.

http://www.injen.com/intakes.html - look under the EIS cold air extention.

Good luck

like ray said, you have to COMPLETELY SUBMERGE THE FILTER IN WATER to hydrolock your car! a little water WILL NOT hurt your car, if anything it will help it by cooling off your engine (:D polo). IMO hydrolock is an overrated problem
