AEM V2 or AEM CAI

Hey guys i have a 99 ex 5-speed, would you recommend i get a aem cai with a bypass valve (i dont want my engine to get hydro locked) or a aem v2? i care about power but i would rather go with something that is better for my engine, because i really dont know much about the v2s. Does anyone know how safe they are about sucking up water? I found some good deals for both on ebay. Thanks for the help.

RE: AEM V2 or AEM CAI

I am not fussing at you Magic, but this exact question has been answered about 50 times in the past month alone. I know you just joined and you didn't see any of the threads, but when you wonder about something as common as intakes, do a search for it first and then if you don't understand something or still can't decide, then come back and ask us.

But since I am already typing in here...

V2's are not CAI so you wouldn't have to worry about hydrolock. The V2 also outperforms the traditional CAI anyway. Put on a water bypass valve that robs a CAI of 2-3 Hp and the choice become quite obvious.

In my opinion Intakes are ranked like this:

1. AEM V2
2. Weapon-R Secret Weapon
3. Injen Hybrid
4. AEM CAI
5. K&N SRI
6. Stock airbox w/ K&N filter
7. A gift wrap tube with some balled up gift wrapping on the end
8. A piece of PVC with a paper towel
9. Stuff a shop rag directly into your throttle body
10. Any CAI with a water bypass valve.

hey, to any moderators or administators who put stuff on the site: you think you can put a thread at the top of this forum explaining the difference between a CAI, an SRI, a V2, all their advantages, and so on. This has been explained enough times. thanks.

And before you say, "That's not a Civic!" The install is the same on a Civic.
