air intake mod resistor

G'day,

I've had a look around the forum with no luck... I'm interested in these "air intake mod chips" which can be purchaced off ebay pretty damn cheap...

An example of one of these is here. From checking out the other auctions i don't think the product is any different for any car...

I understand this would "work" on my 92 si civic (d16a8 engine)

Has anyone here ever tried one of these? do they work? and if they do, are they damaging the car in anyway? and finally, what does it do to fuel economy?

Thanks
Rohan

These things have been covered many times. They are trash. It's simply a resistor that tricks your ecu into sending more fuel than it should.

The general consensus on these (and most) things is... You get what you pay for.

Unless you are running lean for some reason (boost), this "chip" will do you no good and could potentially lead to problems.

Yeh, stay away from them. You're better off spending your cash on somethin else. People usually buy those and end up burning more fuel and don't get any performance gains.

I talked to one guy that told me his neon caught on fire because of the stupid resistor.
