Bypass Valve?
 

I know a bypass valve is to prevent water getting sucked into the engine, Now does having a bypass valve increase hp or torque or decrease hp or torque? if there is a thread already about this just link me and I'll be on my way. thx

Try using the SEARCH feature at the top, should bring up all sorts of results.

In a nutshell, it will basically nullify any HP that was added by the CAI in the first place

it will basically mean you have a $250 SRI.

In other words....Either get the CAI without the bypass, or just get an SRI if you are really that worried about hydrolocking (which you honestly shouldn't be unless you plan on driving thru a river with your civic).

I live in ventura, ca. The weather is so inconsistent and believe it or not I have driven through water high enough for it to come through my shift boot. Would it be pretty hard to get water all the way up the CAI into the manifold? If it is Imma just take off the bypass.

as long as the filter itself does not get submerged then your fine., but once its submerged it will suck water into your engine before you even knew what happened. and if your driving through deep enough water that it comes up through the shift boot, then you really need to find a different road and shouldn't be driving through that in the first place

If you say you do drive thru water up to your shift boot than def. get a bypass valve. Keep in mind that the bypass valve will make you lose any power that you would have gained out of the CAI, so you will basically have a CAI that performs exactly like an SRI.

Yes, a Bypass valve does indeed virtually eliminate the chance of hydrolocking, but the point were trying to make is if you get a bypapss valve on a cai, you lose all the hp you would have gained with the CAI compared to an SRI, so basically...if you think you will need a bypass valve, JUST BUY AN SRI!!! ;)[:@];)
