Default cat Q

on the d16y7, the cat is directly connected to the manifold. if i were to get a header, and try to install a different cat, underneath the car after the header, is there room?

You'd need to convert to an EX exhaust , but you'll have plenty of room. This should help you out!

Q: How do I convert my DX/LX exhaust to an EX setup?
A: If you want to use aftermarket EX exhaust parts you going to have to get the following:
1)EX aftermarket header
2)EX downpipe/cat assembly (Dezod.com carries a radom tech one)
3)EX catback of your choice
4)Your secondary O2 sensor will need to be lengthed to fit in it's new location.

I think whatever you have for a custom catback is going to have to change considerably with the switch going over to an EX exhaust system since cat is now under your seat not right by the rad. I need Ron with his diagrams to help me out here.

yeah so i picked up a header about a month ago pretty cheap, its a megan raceing header. i swore i had a thread on it, but i can't find it, it must have been someone elses i jacked. but lou's exhaust quoted me for somewhere between 3-5 hundred, for the install, includeing the price of the new highflowcat(magnaflow) this sound about right? i mean, i can't weld, bu i know people that can, so could i just go buy the long AND short O2 sensor wires from pwjdm, and order a cat, myself, then get it all in, or is there ways to clamp a cat on? whats your thoughts.

3-5 hundred to install it?? Thats ridiculous. Ive never heard of an estimate being that high for a header and cat install. I just had a new exhaust ran total for 300. That included the header being put on, high flow cat, muffler and all pipes.

Cats are like $75 bucks. Extending the O2 wires is about a 5 min job.

that seems pretty high. Go somewhere else and get another quote to see if they will match it.
