Default Cold Air Intake = bad?

hey guys im new to the forum here,
im getting a 95 civic ex next week for my first car.

i wanna put a CAI in it, but my friends like "no dont get a CAI, your car will run bad" hes saying CAI's only go good with turbo.

he also said that they add like 25-50 hp just for an intake (i dont believe that)

but i would like to know the truth about CAI's, or was my friend right about them.

reply back with help, thanks

usualy if u just add a cai u will lose tq a cai is ment to be used with other parts such as more fuel exhaust and more bolt ons..not to count the head work and etc... the only thing ur gonna get outa buying and puting a intake on is sound basicly and maybe a 2hp or so gain not enuf to fart at really but they can help mpg i just run a cone filter on mine i ran a better time with my stock intake wid just a filter than a cold air.

CAI is better IMO looks tons beter... and slightly colder air.

Neither is gonna give you much HP increase. Neither will make your car run any worse.

Tell your friend to go kill himself. KthnxBai.

short ram well atract alot of heat from engine bay if u want a decent intake go for a full set up that goes into the fender wells such as AEM... or a k&n that has a heat sheild on it.
