Default Cold Air Intake

im looking at different cold air intakes on ebay and i just dont understand why i should pay 260 for a aem when its just a pipe with a filter just like the 40 dollar ones. is it better to just save my money and get the cheaper ones since its just a friggin pipe?

It is not the same at all. First of all I am pretty sure the AEM pipes are coated on the inside for better airflow and it has the smothest curves that air could go up the pipe easier.

Personally, I would go for the cheaper one. Vovka86 could be right, but in my opinion, $260 for the pipe is way too much. How many HP would the CAI give you anyway? I can't imagine the more expansive intake giving you more than 1hp over the cheaper one. For $260, you could get an intake and a header!

hey, haha vovka and andruyha, you guys are both russian right. so am i, maybe i should change my username to borya or something lol. umm yea im really leaning towards buying the cheaper pipe or just a used aem one for like fifty bucks, for 260 i can have a custom cat back exhaust done. which btw should i used 2.25 or 2.5 inch piping throughout?

a pipe is a pipe for the moost part. A good filter will really help you like say a K&N. Just put that on the ebay intake I'd say.

Yea, the filter will make a difference. As for the exhaust, go with a 2.5. If you got a newer civic '96 and up, you should have 2.25 pipes already. Also, if you want to make it louder, make sure that they don't put a resonator in (you will have a nice deep rumble)
