RE: Converter Question??

The muffler don't do nothing at all for emission...In fact where I take my car to get my emission test the tech told me that car will pass emission WITHOUT an exhaust..But you need one because they do a visual ispection..Stock exhaust is so restricted that it works like another Resonator to quite down the sound. California has some tough laws for emission it might even be the most strict in the country..

I own a 00 Si. They don't make a high-flow cat that is legal yet here in California..In fact I haven't seen one for mine yet. Unless you installed a Universal. But since we both have OBD2 it might give out a Cel for a high-flow cat. It's all in the cat if you will get a cel or not. If you go universal and is not meant for your car u might get a CEl

I think your cat is exactly where mine is located... Where my header drops towards the end just where the down pipe is (o2 sensor) it bolts right up to the cat..

Good luck

RE: Converter Question??

if you get a "high flow cat" off of ebay for $30, that is NOT emissions legal. We were just discussing Magnaflow cats on another thread; they make one specifically legal for Cali, but its OEM specs, so you wouldn't see any gains over the one you have now. Just get a catback exhaust (skip the muffler on stock piping), leave the cat OEM and call it a day.

RE: Converter Question??

well here is my goal...and yea my cat is located at the end of the down pipe...right now i have pacesetter headers and downpipe which leaks...so i need somewhere to get the gaskets for the pacesetters...while i got these off im going to go ahead and replace the cat too...my goal is not for sound because my car is an automatic and i think a auto car with exaust soulds like **** imo...so i just want something quite,hi flow or oem, with no engine light and being able to pass emissions...any imput???
