Default Custom Exhaust Vs. Name Brand

I just got my civc and i want to get my exhaust but I dont know if I wanna break bread and buy something like a greddy or just go to a muffler shop and get me a custom exhaust made. Can u tell the difference between buyin a greddy exhaust with a 2.25 pipe'n or just getting one made with a 2.25 piping... would i get the same amount of hp gain?

If the muffler shop does MANDREL bent piping go to them, if not get a name brand one. Almost all of the name brand exhausts are mandrel bent.

Agreed. If the muffler shop doesn't do mandrel bent piping buy the full name brand system. If you do that route you also get the fun of putting it on yourself, although best of luck with getting the stock one off if you have some miles accumulated on it already (a torch will be your freind when dealing with the stock bolts)

Where the pipe has no dimples in it from them bending it. Meaning a smooth seamless bend so that the piping stays true to it's size in a bend.

id go with a name brand because most brand names spend a lot of time and money in making sure u get great power/sound and also good fitment.

dont buy Greddy

Buddy bought Greddy and it was supposed to be 2.5 inch, well it had a couple places that were not bent correctly, the welds looked like ****, and inside diameter only came to 2.15 inchs.

I think that's the first time I've heard something bad about Greddy.

+1.

I have greddy exhaust and everything on it was perfect. Every weld and bend was perfect, and when my mechanic saw it he was in awe also. He said it was way better than any other exhaust he has worked with or seen (except for other greddy, skunk2, hks, and apexi stuff which he said were about the same).
