Direct bolt on intake?
 

I'm trying to fab up a intake for my Wagon, and I have enough room to just bolt the filter directly to the intake. Would this be better than running pipeing down to the stock location then clamping a filter on? Thanks

you cant get like a really sharp 90 degree bend and make some custom piping that goes in all of the open areas. Can you get a pic(s) of the engine bay and maybe we can help you get some ideas on what to make or do?

I have no problem making a intake. I was just wondering if clamping a filter directly to the intake would be better than running pipe to the stock locations like most intakes do.

I was brainstorming some more last night and the thought of a Y-Pipe popped in my head. Would I be hurting anything by putting a Y-Pipe on the intake? It would be cool to run two filters. Anyone know?

well for one they have the piping located away from the engine for a reason. so if you put the filter directly on the throttle body with no piping then the air that enters will be the heated air coming right off the engine, which is not good. keep the piping and run it down by the bumper or do a short ram. and as far as the Y-pipe, i could be wrong but i think it would be pointless. or take in too much air and make you engine run really lean.

i would take a 90 degree bend and point it twords the air filter now and cut it about 10" from the air filter and stick the filter on the end of that
