Does intake and exhaust really make a difference?
I was thinking about buying an intake and exhaust and was wondering if anyone knows exactly how many hp you really gain from this? I have a 2004 civic dx, 1.7 liter. A friend has a 2001 that he put an aem v2 intake on and i dont remember what exhaust but he said it didnt make much of a difference. Is it really worth the money, and how much should i expect to spend?
Thanks,
Mike

if you plan on tuning it then those are some of the basics you will need... those 2 alone will give you about 10hp at best, but they also level out your power curve and make it quicker even though you arent seeing it directly in the HP numbers.
simple answer: yes

the more mods you do the more you will start to feel other mods....but for intake and exhaust to really make a difference to need to get a header and bigger injectors also maybe a fuel rail and pump
dont touch your injectors... your not going to see a difference, also buying a fuel rail and pump is a waste of money. Your car doesnt need the extra fuel right now...
A header is a good investment though.

I want to add a header to my ride. But I have been told it will give me the "pissed off weed-eater" sound. Will it sound like that and will I feel an effect even on a stock exhaust?
