Exhaust

Oh eBay,
I bought an exhuast system off of eBay thinking I'll be Hot S#!%.. Not quite. The exhaust did not fit completely and it seems like I need like 4-5 inches of stainless steel pipe to add on just so my muffle tip can sit at the proper place and not under my car.. Oh ebay

Soooooooo lets here about you car.

What year, trim?

Do you have a NON-EX/SI ek chassis Civic?

Exhaust

LOL,
cvcrcr99, I value your opinion. So lets begn.
1998 civic lx, D16y7, non Vtech, non ex/si with ex exhaust.
Keep in mind that I bought the car from someone who did not keep up with the car.
When I lifted the car, the pipe coming off of the manifold was one long pipe to the axle.
I bolted the new manifold, down pipe, cat, resonator, s curve pipe then oh s#@!, there's like half inch gap from s pipe to muffler. So I end up bolting everything and the muffler got pulled under the car.

So I added 3 inches to the muffler and it fits perfectly. The curved S pipe still rests against the car and vibrates a bit. but other than that it looks and sounds great.

ebay exhaust that sounds great? You sure about that? lol..

It will sound good for 6-8 months, then slowly become nasty sounding IMO. We will see what happens

Yeah, it does.. For now I guess.. From what I'm hearing it's going to sound like crap in a couple of months.

IMHO, I think the Apexi WS2 is the best. Expensive, but worth it. There is a knock off company making that style exhuast called Yonaka. However, they are a "new-er" company. Exhaust is really all a matter of personal opinion. I do not like that "low, deep sound", that usually means nasty loud, bee sounding noise at higher rpms.

Check through Youtube and see what you like. If you like the sound, that is all that matters.

I run the Yonaka on my 99 SiR. IMO it's better than the Apexi in two ways. 1.) It's 100% stainless unlike the Apexi. They just use a coating which is cheap and flakes off in less than 6 months and rusts through in a year. It happened to my friends Apexi. 2.) The Yonaka sounds better at all RPM's. It stays deep and smooth at all RPM's as well. Not ricer/raspy like ebay, magnaflow, skunk, etc. There's a video on youtube where they compare the Yonaka to the Apexi. The consensus is the Yonaka is better.

Try not to make generalize comments about companies with known good feedback. One experience from someone in Canada where his friend's exhaust looked like sh!t is not the greatest way to deteremine quality across the board when 1,000's of kits have been sold. My Apexi WS2 has held up great for over 6 1/2 years. I have used it for 4 1/2 years, and the guy I bought it from used it for 2 years. That "coating" is fine. I live in the NE, so I have to deal with salt on the roads. This exhaust is not rusting through. My $500 brand new exhaust manifold is breaking rather than my $300 used exhaust system.

I will not get into opinions on what sounds best. By now, most of you should know that you will like what you will like. Just go with what you like.
