I was just lookin at some pictures of a couple cars and i noticed that there is a hose that connects to my cold air intake pipe to the motor and in the pictures i was lookin at they had a air filter on it not really sure what it is, and i prolly sound really dumb to ask, but does it really do anything to have the air filter on it?

 

i believe those are called breather filter. and no they dont really do anything, mainly cosmetic
