filter shape: round cone vs oval cone?

I was wondering if anyone knows which would flow better, a round cone filter or an oval cone filter?

I would assume the oval because it has more surface area, or does it not work like that?

I found an AirRaid oval cone filter for free on the side of the road, along with an engine bay heat shield that is no applicable to my vehicle.

My round K&n cone is a bit crumpled from an accident, and I was wondering if it would be beneficial to replace with the airraid one.
they look like this:

I would say that the oval one is a bit overkill. The larger the surface area, the slower the air velocity that is generated by the intake. This means that the air going through the larger, oval filter will be a bit warmer than the air going through the filter that was specified for your car.

I'd stick with the round filter.

Doesn't matter. They'll both flow more than your engine can consume.
