That is in consideration...how much can that truely help tho. My local guy says it will just add sound, not speed in my situation. Any suggestion on types/brands?

To be honest with you, bro, I didn't get any gains when I put my header on but I figured I just had some tuning to do to iron out the kinks. I was just like you and had a SRI and a Cat-Back and when I put my header on...nada. It did get louder though. But, most people will swear by them. I have heard gains of 10-12Hp with a good one. I am the only person I have ever heard of that didn't get a solid gain from a header. Did I mention I have a 5th gen too? If that helps. I am hoping it just needs some tuning because it wasn't cheap. Maybe get a 6th gen intake manifold and throttle body, that'll give you some better throttle response.

It's definitely safe for your car because it's just letting it breathe better, but the install is going to be more entailed than a header. Are you doing all of the work yourself?
