Good Headers?
hey i got a quick question... what would be a good set of headers at are 50 state legal???? and have the factory OEM sensor placements???
oh and its for a 1999 Honda Civic EX SOHC VTech |
RE: Good Headers?
DC Sports, most headers are 50 states legal becase they dont deal with the catalytic converter at all, only the exhaust flow.
And again, most have the OEM sensor placements, the only time you have to extend/splice your o2 sensor to make it fit (usually) is on ebay headers |
RE: Good Headers?
if you cant afford DC's, get megan racing, same great quality, cheaper price

RE: Good Headers?
also, header, not headers
|
RE: Good Headers?
honestly, it really doesn't matter what brand you go with.. all the gains will be about the same regardless of brand, unless you're willing to spend $700+... Anyway, almost every header you see on the market is 50-state legal. Recommended brands: Hedmen or Megan Racing: $150-$250, DC: $300+
Oh, and Flip: you'll have to re-locate the O2 sensor on probably 85% of the headers on the market. From what I've seen, one-piece 4-1 headers are the only ones with the stock sensor location--there just isn't enough room for it on a4-2-1 header, so the manufacturer has to find another place for it. |
RE: Good Headers?
i just found NUMBER1 header buy HPRacing??? and supp. they have the factory O2 sensor poss.

RE: Good Headers?
we arent talking about gains, we are talking about quality.
thanks |
RE: Good Headers?
Just for the record, you won't see the "15+ horsepower gains" that HP Racing claims on their website. D16Y8's are still just sohc d-series motors. D-series motors are not very responsive to bolt-ons (with the exeption of forced induction, of course!). At any rate, all the headers I saw on their site were 4-1.. like I said.
I'm not sure about the quality of HP racing, but I know (from personal experience) that Hedmen headers rock (though they do lose they're beautiful painted finish after about 10 minutes of driving lol)... I've heard DC headers are awesome (but expensive), and I've only heard good things about Megan Racing |

looks good to me, but Soprano wanted one that retained the stock o2 sensor location... personally, I don't think it's really all that much work to extend the wires for a better header, but that's just me |
