Default HX compadability

Hey, first off I just wanted to say I'm new here in search of some advice.

Anyway, I've got a '97 Civic HX which needs a new exhaust manifold. Retail on an HX manifold is something like $800 I've been told, so I'm looking into an aftermarket header instead. Problem is, I'm not sure what is compadable with the HX since the emissions system is apparently different. I've heard that a lot of aftermarket parts for the EX are compadable on the HX, but I'm not sure.

What exactly am I looking for?

Hey, welcome to the site.

D series parts are interchangeable, so an Ex header will fit your motor.

If you just want a stock replacement, I have one I will sell you cheap.

itll bolt up, but aligning it to the rest of the exhaust system can be a pain. i would just get the aftermarket exhaust for an Ex along with the header, then install them and tow it to a muffler shop and have a high-flow cat made up for it. they will make it fit. should make that little engine breath even easier, so youll get a few hp, and a couple of MPG. and thats impressive on that motor.
