I/H/E

Ok so i've been debating this for a while and i think i have made my decisions on what i'm planning on doing, but still need a little guidance.

INTAKE-
AEM SRI

HEADER-

EXHAUST-
Here's my dilemma; i love the sound of the A'PEXI N1 exhaust but don't have that kind of money. Does the N1 universal muffler sound the same and would i get the same performance/sound if i did custom 2.25" pipes from the cat to the N1 universal. If so, about how much would it cost and where do you find just exhaust pipes?

BTW; It's a 1998 Honda Civic EX 5SPD that i purchased almost a month ago.

intake and header look great, and no you wont get the same sound or power with the N1 muffler, btu with the custom piping you'd get a pretty good power gain. IMO i'd get a nice resonator to go somewhere in the piping, it quiets it down alot and sounds alot better. I got my custom piping done (broguht a muffler and res to the muffler shop) for around $160 if i remember correctly. I've heard other guys quoted like $300+ but thats waaaaaay too much

RE: I/H/E

300 is definitly way to much for welding some pipes together. your not gonna get the same sound like flip said above, but it will work out nice, and will sound good. if your able to jack up your car you could take measurements so you know what your going to need, them you can get it and that willsave time on the people measuring everything out for you them doing the actual install. my buddy did my old exhaust on my old car, i kicked him like 50 bucks for just welding, everything else as far as costs came from the store.

well the thing with the custom exhaust is that my dad has a lift for his camaro and he also can weld so we will be doing all of the labor ourselves. I'm just curious as to how much the pipes themselves will cost and where you find them.

RE: I/H/E

at a muffler shop, piping is ~$100, labor is about ~$50. i dunno if you can get the pipes only though, since at the shops, they do fitting and sometimes have to bend something using their mandrel bender maching thingy lol

RE: I/H/E

yeah you'll have to do some bending, they used a press-bender for my piping and it looks pretty good, although i bet it makes the 2.25" piping 2" in some places [&:] but w/e

RE: I/H/E

That sucks, too bad you couldn't mandrel bend it.

RE: I/H/E

It would be nice to have but unless you got a swiss bank account and many offshore revenues, a personal mandrel tube bender is only a pipe dream. Unless you wanna open up an exhaust shop, to make use of it.

I think we all have dreamt this at one point...sad to say it's not feasible [:o]
