installing headers

i was just curious how hard is it to install headers?? is it just bolting of the old header and bolting on the new one or is thier other stuff involved??

Yea, remove the stocker and replace with the aftermarket, however, getting new bolts is a good idea because the old ones might be rusted on........Getting the old bolts off is the hardest part....Make sure you dont over torque the bolts on when installin the new header thou, because you can strip the threads on the block, which is just going to cause you more headaces.

I've heard a lot of bad things about OBX. Good luck with the install but I just wanted to throw that out there.

ive neevr really installed anything major on my car, this will be the first mechanical thing i will be intalling, do u guys think i can do it myself or better off giving it to a shop??

RE: installing headers

definitely do it yourself. when i did my first mod (aem v2 intake), i struggled with some nuts and bolts, but i eventually figured it out, and got satisfaction and experience from it. don't let a mechanic do such an "easy" task for $90+, do it yourself and learn -- we're here to help :)

RE: installing headers

just buy new bolts it will be a really big pain to get the stock ones off if their rusted. i did that and put on my sri at the same time and that was the first thing i had ever done to my car and it only took me about 45 min by myself to take the stock intake and header off and put the others on. the biggest pain will probably be the spring bolts not really to get off just to get on.
