just a muffler...?
Im not really going for performace, because i will never have enough money to actually make my civic fast but i want it to look nice from the back and sound decent. I was lookng at the magnaflow mufflers. if i just take of my existing muffler and replace if with e magnaflow, will it sound ok, not ricer sound... and will it be ok for the car, it wont hurt it at all...?

Many here will tell you to go cat-back. I don't think it's worth paying $300-600 for 4-5HP. I have a Magnaflow muffler welded onto stock piping and it sounds very good. No raspiness at all, very deep, and quiet. You should be fine as long as you don't cheap out on the muffler.

To the OP, if you do go with Magnaflow, don't buy directly from their site, ( I don't know if you were planning to or not), but you can get much cheaper elsewhere.

i've got the same thing too and it sounds just fine, even my friend who as put over 60,000 into his mustang said it sounds better than most ricers, lol. i say go for it!

RE: just a muffler...?
Thats the setup i'm planning. Magnaflow 22" case muffler with custom 2.25" piping from the header back. I don't want a race exhaust but i don't want to spend a couple hundred on a cat back either. the ideal thing is to get stainless steel mandrel bent tubing but that is when it gets a little crazy
